THE PRODIGAL SON
“Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this
son of mine was dead, and has come to life again,
he was lost, and has been found.” – Luke 15:23-24
I am a prodigal son returning
from that distant country – that big
empty realm of meaninglessness.
I am an errant son, wasting my life
and inheritance.
I am a prodigal son returning
from that distant country – that realm
of false infinities.
I am an errant son, reduced to penury
and humiliated.
I am a prodigal son returning
from that distant country – that domain
of sins and hopelessness.
I am an errant son, repentant
and asking for forgiveness.
Invite me Lord to the festive banquet
You prepare for prodigal sons returning.
Embrace me in your love, resurrect me
from my spiritual death and restore
my inheritance in your kingdom.
