FLASH FLOOD

The flood was fast and furious

Assaulting the riverbanks

Uprooting the vegetation

Collecting debris

As it rushed to join the sea.

It claimed two people

Sacrificed to the river spirits

Unhappy and mad

At the inhabitants on land

Destroying the mountains

Desecrating the river.

Some coffins were floating

Scoured off from a hillside

But no logs

The big sawmill at the coast

Had long been silent

No more timbers to feed.
