COOGEE BEACH, SYDNEY

A man with weak knees
Standing at the lofty cliff
Clutching for inspiration
In the blue ocean
In the cloudless sky
To compose a poem
Hunting for words
But the words won’t come out
Like the hermit crabs
In their cast-off abodes
At the foot of the cliff
Smacked by breaking waves
But he is consoled and happy
Walking with a woman with weak knees
Treading the footpath along the craggy cliff
That hums with the cold breeze
Taking souvenir photos of the scenery
Beholding the flock of seagulls in their
Late afternoon retreat on the brown beach.
